Medicine (Intratympanic Therapies)
This treatment involves medication being injected through the tympanic membrane (eardrum) into the middle ear to treat certain conditions of hearing loss or dizziness. You may need just a single injection or a series of injections.
Gentamicin injections
Intratympanic injections of gentamicin is a vestibulotoxic medication that chemically reduces function of the inner ear. This is used for treatment of inner ear disorders causing frequent vertigo.
Steroid injections
Intratympanic injections of steroids is used for people with sudden hearing loss when they are seen near the time of onset.
