Our Mission

Create a modern academic Otolaryngology Department focused on providing exceptional patient care, advancing our field through discovery, and training a new and diverse generation of Pittsburgh otolaryngology leaders.

Our Vision will see this Department become the global leader in surgical innovation, research impact, and training in otolaryngology/head and neck surgery.

The Pittsburgh Hearing Institute

The University of Pittsburgh and the Department of Otolaryngology plan to establish the world’s leading institute for treating and finding cures for hearing loss at the UPMC Mercy Pavilion. It will house world-class clinical and research training programs focused on neurotology, audiology, vestibular, and translational and basic science research programs. This will facilitate a true bench-to-bedside approach while providing a hub for collaborations across the globe with the mission of curing hearing loss.
